TheLittleFool
A little Fool once asked the mighty Rain
Will you accompany me in my garden eternally?
And never to leave me in drought indefinitely?
The mighty Rain smiled lovingly at her
And showered her with mist of water
Where the little Fool danced and laughed in joy
In full faith of a promise
Presumed not to be broken
One day the mighty Rain disappeared
Not a word of caution given
Leaving the little Fool stood stranded
In her own luscious green garden
Wondering if she has caused the mighty Rain displeasure
With her own unappreciative gestures
The little Fool did her dance of merriment
Calling out the mighty Rain’s name
Till her voice turned hoarse
She twirled and circled the whole garden
Even with exhaustion she withstood
All the time her hands in the air
All the time her eyes fixed in the sky
Alas the mighty Rain did not appear
And neither did the mighty Rain answer her
And for months onwards
The little Fool’s garden grew weak
And withered
The smell of death slowly permeated
In the once lavish greenery
The little Fool laid in her garden
Lost and dying
Waiting for her beloved Rain
In full faith
Of the latter’s promise
One day she heard the mighty Rain’s voice
Outside her garden
And her heart jumped with anticipation
Of pleasure to see her beloved Rain once again
Quivering with excitement
The little Fool tried to stand up
And welcome her beloved Rain
Back in her arms
But with the decaying of her garden
And the feebleness of her being
She found herself dragging her body to the gate
Tears of joy
Washed down her face
At the gate she tried to call the mighty Rain’s name
But it was only a hoarse whisper
For she has put her whole soul
To her futile dance
Between the cracks of the gate
She saw her beloved Rain
Lavishing mist of water
On a youngling’s garden
Shocked with disbelief
The little Fool backed away
And tripped on a dead root
As she fell onto the dry earth
She remembered how the mighty Rain had favoured her
And how beautiful
Her garden had been
As her body touched the ground
The little Fool closed her eyes
I am nothingness
Without my beloved Rain
I am a fool
Just like my name
